Kilimanjaro, rising 4600m (15,092ft) from) its base,  and 5895 m (19, 341 ft) above sea level is the highest peak in Africa. Over 4 times the height of Ben Nevis, and over 3000 times the height of me!

On the 4th of June year, I'll be flying out to Tanzania with a group from St Andrews Hospice with the aim of reaching the Summit. 

We'll spend 6 days trecking on average 6 - 7 hours a day, we'll walk through Mountain forest, Moorland, Alpine desert and Ice Fields..

It's going to be a challenge, but one for a good cause.

St Andrews Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, - the total care of patients with progressive disease and limited prognosis - and is open to all without distinction of race, gender of creed. 

All services are provided free of charge to the patient. 

The annual running costs are around 4.2 Million, of which, around 2.2 Million has to be raised each year from public donations, this is approximately £44,000 per week
