Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi, my name is Mick, I'm a widower with 4 kids, and 5 G/kids. On Oct 1st i was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and given 7 to 12 months, depending on treatment. I made all my arrangements within the following 5 days, I knew i did'nt want flowers, so decided that a collection could be held for Cancer support. I was'nt happy with just that, so i decided to hold a big charity fishing match. As part of my interest in sea fishing, I am also a moderator for the N/east coast, and a few others, on www.Sea-Fishing.Org this site offers great help and advice from its members and is totally free, I have been a member since April 2008 and had some great days out, and fishing holidays. To cut a long story short, we usually hold competitions etc, for the RNLI but i thought this time i would organise a competition stretching right round the coast of england. This will be the biggest event i've ever organised, and will hopefully make £1,000+ for Cancer support. The matches are in March/April, but already i have a few mates helping out, and collecting prizes for raffles and auctions etc. For the N/West coast, its my best mate, Rabbi2 (Keith) for the S/east, and Thames estuary, its Dontcatchmuch (Steve) South coast (Flattiefanatic) for the N/East, its myself, with help from a few mates. There will be more volunteers etc in the new year, when we finalise the rules, venues, and dates. I will add to this later, but if you think you might be able to help out in some way, feel free to get in touch. Thanks....Mick
The first match has been held by the south coast, they only had a short time to organise it, but still made £150.00 plus Gift aid. well done the South coast.
UPDATE,
The N/East match was held at Spurn point, on the 27th of March, The total raised from entrance fees and refreshments was £326.00 plus Gift aid. Nice one Guys, see you all again soon.
UPDATE,
The S/east and Thames forums held their match last week, on the 17th April, which i was lucky enough to attend. We had a brilliant day, and at the match end, raised £618.00 with around £200.00 more still to be handed in. This plus gift aid is likely to amount to more than my original target of £1,000.00 so now im looking to make over £2,000.00 Well done the lads n lasses of the S/east.
Update,
