Story
It’s the time of year again when I start asking for donations for a good cause. You may remember my abseil last year or the many bake sales and sponsored walks in the years previous to that - supporting some incredible charities.
This year I have decided to go for a hat trick! I am hoping to raise money for 3 small charities that I feel deserve more recognition and support...
BY SHAVING MY HEAD!
Obviously I am not going to do this for nothing, and my goal is to raise £1,000 for each of the charities, so a total of £3,000!
So here are my chosen charities and a little bit about them:
Kicks count is an amazing charity that raises awareness of a baby’s movements during pregnancy to try and reduce the risk of miscarriage and still birth as well as supporting expectant mothers. They have managed to create an amazing community through social media where pregnant women can feel safe and able to ask questions.
The Mayhew is an animal welfare charity, the difference though is that they also value people and understand that in order to help animals, you have to help their owners and the wide community too. They work to improve the lives of cats, dogs and communities and aim to provide veterinary care, shelter, refuge to dogs in the UK and abroad and education surrounding animal welfare.
Stay Up Late helps to enhance the social lives of people who have additional needs and to extend their sociable hours beyond the usual sign off time of their support workers. They are home to ‘Gig Buddies’ which is a program that helps to partner people with similar interests so that they can attend events together and stay up late!!
If the charities don’t do it for you, just think about how weird I’ll look as a little bald egg girl - I’m sure that’s worth a few pounds!
Thank you for your support... each year I am amazed by the donations and I know that this money will make a real impact to these organisations.
