Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
As most of you are probably aware (because it’s all I’ve talked about for the last five months!) I am taking part in the 2010 Virgin London Marathon which takes place on Sunday 25th April 2010.
I’m not sure at what point or why I thought it would be a good idea to try and run 26.2 miles but I did and in doing so secured a Gold Bond place so there’s no going back now!
The charity I’ve chosen to fund raise for is The Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
It is an independent charity working in Dorset. Their job is to support people in Dorset affected by cancer and other life-limiting diseases, largely at the end of life, working with both the patients and their families. All of its services are provided free of charge and 70% of the funds they need are raised locally, the rest is given by the NHS. They are also the only agency providing specialist palliative care in North, South and West Dorset. One of the main reasons why I have chosen to fund raise for this charity in particular is that a very good friend of mine’s Mum has worked as a Nurse there now for a considerable amount of time and I personally couldn’t think of a better reason why to fund raise for them.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate generously as The Weldmar Hospicecare Trust is a truly fantastic charity!
