Please read on for Michelle, Paul, Megan and Andy's begging please.......!

Michelle:

I wanted to do something this year in memory of my Dad who sadly passed away last year very shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he was incredibly brave throughout his short illness, never losing his sense of humour and I miss him every day. Sadly I’ve also seen two of my close friends lose their Dads to this cruel disease and really wanted to do something positive after so much sadness.

I was shocked to learn that the survival rate for this form of cancer is just 3%, whilst other cancer survival rates have increased significantly over the past 40 years; pancreatic cancer has remained at 3%. Please help change this statistic and offer victims of pancreatic cancer hope and a chance of life itself. The best way to beat this form of cancer is through early diagnosis, the pancreatic cancer research fund funds research with the potential to advance pancreatic cancer diagnosis and treatment.

This is going to be a real challenge for me! You can be assured that I’m currently training hard, although I’m a little nervous about the fact that the race is now fast approaching and I’m not able to do more than half the distance without developing a tomato-red face and collapsing into a heap!

Please dig deep and sponsor us, we’d be so grateful if you could make a donation, however small for this important charity.

Megan:

Even if you only know me a little bit you'll know that running is not my thing!  This seemed like a great idea to keep the fitness up when I'd given up rowing. unfortunately I went back to rowing so now seem to spend all my time trying to get my fitness up!!!  However this is all for a great cause and I can only imagine the sense of achievement when we finish!  I am planning to run the whole thing so all donations will spur me on to do that, plus if you fancy a good laugh come and support us on the day (9th May) I'll be the one whose bright red and struggling to breath!!!

Paul:

In theory its not that far - 10k sounds easy. The training program is currently telling me that this is not the case. I am doing this because its the first time I have done a sponsored run and want to get it done before I become a slightly tubby fourty year old (see below), but principally because any donations we get are going to a good cause and will be greatly appreciated.

Andy:

As you know I am a slightly tubby fourty year old ex-smoker, and as such making it around this ten kilometer course is going to be something of a challenge. Any donations would therefore be greatly appreciated, and you can visit me in Cheltenham General the next day if you fancy a gloat. Cheers.
