Story
Tim is a close friend, somebody that I have immense respect for. At the age of 58 years old, Tim was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease - a massive blow to him, his wonderful family and all of his friends.
Parkinson’s disease is devistating for everybody that it touches - its a progressive neurological condition: that means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.
A year after he was diagnosed, Tim was listening to national radio and he was stunned to hear a Professor of Neurology say that a cure was possible during the lifetimes of some people with Parkinson's. It hadn't occurred to him that there was ‘no cure’ simply due to a lack of money for research. For him, it was a defining moment and he resolved there and then to raise a significant sum for Parkinson's research.
Soon after that he hit upon the ambitious plan for the 60/60 Walk (named after the year of his 60th birthday and the approximate length of the walk) with a fund raising target of £100,000.
Tims a mate and I hate what this disease could do to him and his family. I have decided to become actively involved and join Tim for the walk (along with various family members and other animals!)
I would be really grateful for any support and help that each of you can give me.
