Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page:

News flash:

Kilimanjaro; been there, done that!

Thanks to all of you who sponsored me, your thoughtful messages of support, combined with your generous donations, spurred me on to the top of Kili. Taking part in the trek was a fabulous experience shared with a great bunch of people. It was tougher than I expected, but I guess that's the point of it. As a group we raised over £100,000 for the charity, good result...............

Sophia would have been proud.................

Thanks & best wishes

Mick

The purpose of this 'Kilimanjaro Climbing Trek' is to raise funds to set up a new cancer research unit at our local hospital.

I'm taking on this challenge in memory of my late wife Sophia. Many of you will know that Sophia finally succumbed to cancer earlier this year after a very tough 4yr struggle. My small contribution towards creating this new specialist cancer research facility seems a fitting tribute to the woman who will always be the love of my life.

Now, I can't honestly say that I'm into 'trekking' in any form and the more I read about climbing up this high (19,000 +) mountain the more I realise how tough it will be. So, I'm off the booze and into a fitness regime as of today............as you can tell from my photo, it won't hurt me to lose a few poundsin the process!
