Fairfield Association - Morecambe Bay Walk · 21 August 2010 ·

The Fairfield Association is a charity which protects green and community spaces in Lancaster. We are responsible for the Fairfield Playground, the Millennium Orchard and the Fairfield Association Urban Nature Area (FAUNA) nature reserve. Our latest project is to protect the fields next to FAUNA.

Story

Hilary and Mick are raising money for the Fairfield Association, an innovative and vigorous local charity which  improves and extends green and community spaces in Lancaster, UK. Our successes so far include a Community Orchard and improvements to the local play area (including new play equipment, some of which is appropriate for disabled children). We need money to look after what we have already created and fund exciting new projects.

We are about to begin work (September 2010) on a 15-acre urban wetland nature reserve called the Fairfield Association Urban Nature Area (FAUNA). At the same time we are raisng funds to extend FAUNA by buying fields next to it at an upcoming land auction. FAUNA is a lovely area, close to the City centre and yet visited by lapwing, snipe, water rail and other wetland birds as well as newts, hares and other wildlife.
