KENYA Autumn 2010 · 26 March 2010

Cricket Without Boundaries is dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the spread and growth of cricket. Crucially, CWB also uses cricket as a tool in the fight against AIDS. CWB’s training sessions have at their heart discussion about the disease in terms of prevention, treatment and equality of treatment for those with and without the disease.

Story

The ONLINE SILENT AUCTION is now over for a Newbery Cricket Bat signed by the entire 2009 Natwest Pro40 and Twenty20 Cup title holders Sussex CCC squad.  Well done to the Graves family (Windlesham - that's where I work for people back home) who submitted the winning bid, thakyou very much!!

I even made my local press back in Oz...  http://www.stawelltimes.com.au/news/local/sport/cricket/michael-armstrongs-kenyan-project/1733997.aspx?src=email

On the 26th of March 2010 I am off to Kenya with CWB (Cricket Without Boundaries).

Cricket Without Boundaries ("CWB") is a UK charity set up to encourage the spread and growth of cricket and to link the sport to AIDS awareness.

Since 2005, CWB has reached over 4000 children in Africa.  CWB incorporates AIDS awareness into the coaching.  However, awareness is not just about prevention, it is also about inclusion; a child with HIV is no different to any other.  Sport, in particular cricket, helps break down the stigma of the disease and allows children of all races and sexes to play together as friends.

CWB's model aims at sustainability; CWB has trained 420 adults as cricket coaches, leaving them with an internationally-recognised qualification and the equipment to continue to train their community.

What does CWB use its money for?  The biggest expense is equipment and associated transportation.  Administration costs are very low so almost every penny we raise goes towards funding projects.  In addition to the Kenya project CWB are also working on projects Rwanda, Botswana and Uganda.

I need to raise at least £750, and donation, big or small will be thoroughly appreciated, by me, CWB and the people that are more directly affected in Africa.

Thank you for your support.
