Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have called off this attempt due to lack of funding to actually get over to & stay in Holland. All donations will be passed on to Alder Hey as planned.I had intended to raise as much money to fund the trip myself but recent illness & hospitalisation of my youngest child wiped out any monies i had saved.I will still take part in the Parachute course but it will be postponed now until the next course {approximately September i believe}.

In November 2006 My 2 year old daughter Phoenix was rushed into Alder Hey childrens hospital in a critical condition. She had a burst appendix and had peritonitis . The surgeons gave her a 40% chance of surviving the operation because she was so weak, but told us that if they left it until she was stronger, the peretonitis would kill her within hours. The operation was very complicated due to the severity of the infection the surgeons worked for almost 5 hours. During this time her stomach, bowl and bladder had to be taken out of her body, cleaned of all traces of infection and replaced.

When Phoenix came out of the operation we we told by the surgeon that it was the worst case of peritontiis they had seen on a child so small and they were amazed she had survived it, they then told us there was a possibility that there was a chance that the peretonitis could leave Phoenix brain damaged or paralysed.
Phoenix spent 5 weeks in the high dependancy unit at Alder Hey and my wife was put up in the Ronald McDonald house the entire time.
Thanks to Alder Hey. Phoenix is now in year 1 at school and is a happy and healthy little girl. Alder Hey gave us our daughter back, its time for us to give them something in return, so they can carry on helping children and supporting families.
