What Mike would have wanted

Kim Dyas is raising money for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust
In memory of Mike Bates

Story

Aplastic Anaemia is a condition where the bone marrow is damaged and stops producing blood cells.  Mike received the pioneering ALG treatment from Professor Ted Gordon-Smith at the Hammersmith, 20 years ago.

Mike was one of his first patients and without this treatment he would have been very unlikely to live. His immune system was first brought down and he was then injected with serum from a horse to kick-start new bone marrow production.

Mike was always very clear that Ted Gordon-Smith saved his life.

So it seems very fitting that we should donate, in Mike’s memory, to save the lives of others.
