The Children's Adventure Farm Trust - London to Paris Bike Ride · 23 September 2009 ·

CAFT helps children aged 17 and under who through no fault of their own miss out on the normalities of childhood. A free day visit, residential stay or themed visit, provides these children with a much needed opportunity to have fun & laughter and to simply enjoy being children.

Story

Relishing a challenge for a great cause was just the incentive I needed to sign up for the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust bike ride from London to Paris in September. As a man of Vintage Port, rather than Beaujolais, age and carrying a few extra pounds I felt duty bound to have some fun and raise much needed cash at the same time.

The Children’s Adventure Farm provides special holidays for special children who are disabled or disadvantaged and whose needs are as varied as they are interesting. I have been involved as a trustee at the Farm for four years so please help me to raise as much as possible as the Farm is 100% reliant on donations - it receives no government or local authority funding.

Training is going well apart from the so called upgrade to cleats (which fasten you onto the pedal). You Tube hits on the practice evening were high. There are five of us training three or four times a week (forty five doing the ride) and with some seven weeks to go we are achieving approximately seventy miles a week. To give you some idea of how much we need to improve over the next seven weeks, that is less than the daily average for the four consecutive days on the ride.

Thanking you in advance for all of your support.
