Made it!!
Two bits of dodgy map reading in the dark added to the intended 36 miles and the last 8 miles or so in the sunshine (who ordered that?) over the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head proved particularly tough. Of the 44 teams who started we came in a respectable 14th in just over 13 and a half hours.
A huge thank you to all of you have sponsored me so generously and for the words of encouragement received beforehand. It's still not too late to contribute so if this is your first visit to this page please read below about the reason I wanted to do this:
My niece Sophie died at the tragically young age of 23 in an epilepsy related accident just over a year ago. Sophie was a bright, vivacious, kind and funloving girl with great compassion for her fellow human beings.
Since Sophie's death her parents and her many friends have undertaken a series of fundraising activities for Sophie's memorial fund where all monies raised go to Epilepsy Research UK, a charity which supports and promotes scientific research into the causes, treatments and prevention of epilepsy.
I aim to raise money for the charity by undertaking the 'South Downs Plod', a walk of 36 miles starting near Brighton at midnight and finishing at Eastbourne by 4pm the following day. This is an organised event where other participants in my team of four are raising money for their charity of choice.
I hope you are able to donate and if so, don't forget to Gift Aid it!
