Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Did it!  Despite 'running on empty' for the last 5 miles we managed to finish the (I'm told) 38.9 miles in 14 hours and 53 minutes. Much tougher than 3 years ago and will actually do some training the next time I try something like this! Still, of the 25 teams engaged in 'The Plod' we came a respectable 12th.

Many, many thanks to those who have given so generously and if you need reminding why I wanted to do this, please visit the link to the Sophie Hannon memorial page below:

My niece Sophie died at the tragically young age of 23 in an epilepsy related accident in 2010. Sophie was a bright, vivacious, kind and funloving girl with great compassion for her fellow human beings.

Since Sophie's death her parents and her many friends have undertaken a series of fundraising activities for Sophie's memorial fund where all monies raised go to Epilepsy Research UK, a charity which supports and promotes scientific research into the causes, treatments and prevention of epilepsy.

I aim to raise money for the charity, as I did three years ago, by undertaking the 'South Downs Plod', a walk of 36 miles starting near Brighton at midnight on 25 July and finishing at Eastbourne by 4pm the following day. This is an organised event where other participants in my team of four are raising money for their charity of choice.

I hope you are able to donate and if so, don't forget to Gift Aid it!
