Story
In August I will be travelling to Borneo for 6 months as a volunteer with Engineers Without Borders. My aim is to provide engineering support to remote indigenous communities by designing an Electronic Load Controller for a Micro-Hydro Turbine. Such power schemes are being developed in Borneo as a means to tackle poverty, providing electricity to communities for improved health, education and general welfare services.
Through fundraising and donations I hope to raise enough to support future volunteers fight poverty with technology and engineering.

The Engineers Without Borders UK Placements Programme develops lasting solutions to challenges of poverty around the world. By placing young engineers and technical professionals with poverty-fighting local organisations in Africa, Asia and Latin America we are at the forefront of the race to a more sustainable world where everyone can live well and in freedom.
