Story
Cancer is an awful illness and increasingly I am seeing too many people fall under its grip. I sadly lost my sister in law Liz Inglis to this awful illness and as one of the most vibrant people I have ever met this was a huge loss to all of the family and friends.Liz was a warm smiling, happy, friendly lady who was interested mostly in you.
The illnesss of Liz was also one of many catalysts for me deciding to get off the corporate treadmill and to make more space in life for myself and other people I care about. Im not sure the Clipper race helps with the latter (for a year) but am sure it will on my return!
Right now another close family member is fighting cancer and we also wish her and all those fighting cancer well.
On the Clipper traning I was taught by Emma Pontin a truely inspiratiional lady who recounts her own experiences of fighting breast cancer in her book Beating the Blowfish. You can see a picture of Em under my training section wearing a pink feather boa whilst stripping down a boat winch ! Em hopes to captain a boat in this years race
You can follow my race round the world on my 2013/14 Clipper blog or the satelite tracker of the boats which updates every 15 mins from August http://inglisroundtheworld.wordpress.com/
