Severn Hospice - The Dragon Boat Festival · 26 June 2011 ·

Severn Hospice provides specialist care and emotional support for families in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales living with an incurable illness. All our care is provided for free, but it is not without cost - we have to raise £2 for every £3 we spend. It's because you care that we can.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Recently my wife Helen lost an all too short battle with cancer at the age of 33. Before this she was a staff nurse at the Severn Hospice, giving so much to others with no expectation of thanks or reward. In the short time between diagnosis and her passing she was given access to all the support the hospice had to offer from in patient care to the hospice at home service. They helped with providing the equipment required for her to have some sort of quality of life at home. To this end I would like to repay the kindness shown and do my best, along with a team from work, to raise as much as possible to help ensure the levels of care shown to my wife can be maintained to those others who need to access the hospice.

The team in question are from 238 Squadron Line, RAF Cosford. I set the page up to make it easy for the team to get all our donations in one place. The line up so far is: Me, Paul "Gordo" Bennett, Jimmy Riley, Geoff Reber, Mick Wainer, Carl Payne, Dave Evans, Richie Laraunt, Cliff Temple, Phill Wilkes, Sean Walker, Shaun Sankey, Richie James, Adam Raw, Louise Quilter, Richard "Tiche" Haigh, Andrew Poade, Benny Hill, Mark "Flash" Lilley and Lee Hartley.

To add a little spice and fun to the occasion we have chosen to dress up as nurses for the day, well actually it was Carl's idea but we all thought why the hell not.
