Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

My Story....

My story is dead simple.....I wish to help out where I can.  As you may or may not be aware, I ran the 2009 London Marathon for the first time (successfully) back in April to support mental health.  This time, the challenge,  I feel is up there and a perfect event to raise the profile of the charity I'm trying to support.  On the 26th Februray 2010, I leave for Kilimanjaro, to trek for 6 days to the summit.  Kilimanjaro is just under 6000 metres above sea level, 19 thousand feet, with a snow capped top.  Trekking will be approx 6 - 7 hours per day, with a 10 hour final ascent to the summit.  I'm travelling alone and will meet my guides in the town of Moshi.

I appreciate that with live in financially difficult times and the last thing you want is some "do gooder" asking you to put your hand in your pockets........ but consider this, there is always someone worse off than you and in need of help, the effects of mental and emotional illness and addiction are heart breaking,   so for the price of a round down the pub (probably not the best example considering the charity, te, he) you would actually be going somewhere towards helping out and ultimatley making a difference to someones life.

Having spent time with some of the staff and trustees of ADAS, I 100% believe in what they do and have seen the results.  ADAS is certainly one of the leading providers of this type of care and the passion, dedication and ability of all in involved is amazing.  But they need all our help to continue their work.

Therefore, if you are considering making any kind of charitable donations over the next few months or wish to contribute to a worthwhile cause, then think about me shattered, sleeping in a freezing  tent and pooing in a bag .... but I guarantee it's not as bad as some of the effects and consequences of alcohol or drug addiction !

Thank You, Mike xx
