Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 10 October 2010 (or 10.10.10 if it helps you remember) for the Royal National Institute for the Blind.
The race
The Royal Parks Half Marathon starts in Hyde Park and covers Green Park, Buckingham Palace, St James Park, Westminster, Embankment, Trafalgar Square and the Mall before finishing off the 13.1 mile course in Hyde Park. Training has been going well so far and I ran 11 miles at the weekend. I'm aiming to break 2 hours, which would be good going.
The cause
Among the many good causes that RNIB support is Macular Degeneration. This is the most common cause of blindness in people aged over 60 and is something that my grandma, Jessie Reynolds, struggled with in later life until she passed away earlier this year. I'm proud to be running in the memory of a great lady who lived life to the full, kept walking daily until her final days and never moaned about her condition despite the immense frustration it caused her.
The donation
I'm very conscious that a lot of you have donated very generously in the past and I won't be offended if you choose not to support me this time (I know you all get lots of emails like this). That said, any support you choose to give will be most gratefully received.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, secure and there's no unwanted emails. If you can also remember to fill out the Gift Aid details that would be great.
Thanks for your support.
Mike
