Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Those of you who know my father Ray (the carpet fitter) Roberts will remember a fun loving person who lived life to the full and gathered many friends in the Wrexham area.

Unfortunately Ray suffered a heart problem a few years ago which accelerated his dementia to the extent that he struggles to remember recent events plus some cherished memories. He is aware that something is wrong but his dementia does not help him understand what it is.

Ray would often been seen riding his bike round Acton Park where he would stop and talk to anyone however he no longer has the confidence to go beyond the front door

Ann,his wife, is remarkable patient and encourages him to make even the most simpliest of journeys to the town centre Weatherspoons but each month it is becoming more of a challenge.

We all know things will not get better and this challenge has given me the opportunity to make a difference to all those suffering from this now
