Story

Hello, my name is Mike Robinson; thanks for visiting my Just Giving page. I am trying to raise £4,000 for Tommy’s charity. It’s an amazing cause in need of all of our support.

I was thinking about an interesting way to encourage you all to dig deep, without pulling at the heart strings too much. So I thought I would give some ideas and reasons for NOT running a marathon below:

1. There is no other way to put it, running a marathon is utter madness. How else can you justify wanting to run a distance of 26.1 miles.

2. It’s going to hurt like crazy (I am hoping the madness above will cover for it), most marathon runners tell tales of the wall, this is a period during the run when you are unable to recall your name and all of your bodily functions stop.

3. There’s better ways to become popular! In the age of popularity being measured by the number of fans on Facebook or how many Followers on Twitter; there’s no need to leave the comfort of your own room now to attract admiration.

4. There’s a strong possibility that at some point during training, one will have to forgo wine and other alcoholic beverages. In its place is lots of water and early nights!

In all seriousness, all of these points pale into insignificance when you consider what the good people at Tommy’s are trying to do. This is real impact stuff, which means so much too so many people. If you can help in anyway, it will definitely be appreciated.

To increase my chances of reaching my fundraising targets, I am open to do anything (as long as I can keep my clothes on). This also includes small tasks that are Internet Marketing related in return for a contribution to the pot, let me know if this is of interest.
