Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. If you're accessing this you probably know who I am and that I am trying to raise money for the Association of Spina Bifa and Hydrocephalus and the League of Friends for Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre in Haywards Heath, by running this year's Brighton Marathon. To access my other page either click on Page Owner/ Mike Thorne, or enter/click http://www.justgiving.com/Mike-Thorne0. Watching last year's event near my house, I felt this was really something I wanted to be part of. In 1996 I had emergency neurosurgery to treat hydrocephalus at King's (London) and further surgery at Hurstwood Park in 2005 and 2006. I hope I never have to go back, but the support these charities provide is invaluable to a whole spectrum of people, and so I'd like to do what I can looking forwards not backwards (I must remember this when I'm running!). I do enjoy running, though perhaps not this much, but I suppose the motivation is to prove to myself that I'm not ill, even if I do have a shunt. It was tough even with the training, but I made it in 4.27 and your support was a real motivation, thank you. This page remains open for another 3months after the April 10th event.
