Scottish Island Peaks Race · 17 May 2013

We exist to help lost, injured or distressed persons in and around the North York Moors, Wolds and Coast. We also spends time in the local community educating people to be safe in the hills and what to do if something goes wrong. We are funded 100% from fundraising and voluntary contributions.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I've chosen to raise funds for my local Mountain Rescue team, which I've been involved with for 5 years.  There are more details about the charity on this page.

The event I'm taking part in is called the Scottish Island Peaks Race.  Its a multi day team adventure race and comprises of sailing to and from the Scottish mainland, via the Islands of Mull, Jura and Arran, with a fell run to the highest point on each Island.

This is the first adventure race I've done, and with 160 nautical miles of sailing and 60 miles of running it will be a tough one.  There's 5 of us in the team, called the "Old Dogs" and as with other sponsored events I've done in the past, all costs of the event, entry fees, boat hire etc are self-funded, so after just giving's costs, your donation goes straight to the team.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and lookout for a blog or facebook site soon, where you will be able to read about our progress.
