UPDATE: I made it to the top on the morning of Friday, 18th September!
I am heading off to Tanzania in September to try to climb the highest mountain in Africa, Kilimanjaro (5,895m or 19,340ft) and I would like to raise as much money as possible for a local charity, the Tanzania Development Trust.
By sponsoring me, you will ensure that there is a longer-lasting legacy from the training and inevitable pain of the climb – as well as providing a little extra incentive to get out of the tent at –20 degrees C on summit night!
The funds raised will go towards the development of a community library in Songea, one of the poorest regions in Tanzania where most local people are too poor to own books. The development will make the library an inviting place for all local children, so that they will be encouraged to visit, to learn to enjoy books and gain in literacy which will further their education and enjoyment of life.
TDT is the charitable arm of the Britain Tanzania Society. It was established with the aim of alleviating poverty in Tanzania through assistance with projects in health, water supply, education and community based self help activities. See http://www.btsociety.org/pages/tdt/about.htm
Please give generously!
Please note: all of your money goes directly to the Tanzania Development Trust. The expedition costs are not funded by your kind donations. Many thanks.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me – Tanzania Development Trust will receive your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, is added to your donation.
