A Mile for a Life - Saturday 24th July 2010 at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas.

ADSC will be exercising a mile for every British Forces personnel who have lost their lives in Afghanistan since 2001. As part of the Discovering Places Olympic 2012 weekend, a team of 20 comprising both military and civilian individuals will be in turn running or rowing to raise funds and awareness. All proceeds are going to be donated to the Poppy Appeal and the National Memorial Arboretum, two charities whose work honours the fallen, recognises service, suffering and sacrifice, and fosters pride in our country.

The runners will all be carrying backpacks weighing 20 Kg, and members of the public will be able to try one of these on to gauge the effort taken throughout the day. There will be information available on the day about fitness and exercise - and ADSC Physical Training Instructors will be on hand to answer any questions.

The fundraiser will be taking place at the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire - a fitting location, as the participants will be running and rowing near the Armed Forces Memorial, a moving and striking memorial which commemorates all those who have died on duty or as a result of terrorism from the end of the Second World War to the current conflict in Afghanistan.
