Story

Tommy Swankie was the youngest son of my lovely friends Hazel and James, who live up the road from us in Puttenham.

Up until the month before he died, Tommy spent most of his time having a whale of a time with his older twin siblings Peggy and Joe - chasing birds, singing along to Old Jack on CBeebies, scoffing mini pancakes - oh, and widdling on the bedroom floor. With a shock of dark hair, bright blue eyes and a constant smile on his face, Tommy was a beautiful little boy, as well as a hilarious one.

When he was 18 months old, he fell ill. It turned out to be one of the rarest forms of childhood cancer, Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). Tommy had the most fantastic care at a specialist hospital in Holland, but it's a very aggressive illness. Tommy died a couple of weeks later.

A few weeks ago, Tommy's godmother Nicki suggested we yomp 100km non-stop to Beachy Head across some of the most stunning scenery in Britain to honour his memory. There was really only one answer - yes, absolutely!

Raising money for an amazing charity to help other families also facing this terrible situation will also be a great motivator when we're battling up a stony path at 3am in a storm with a dicky headtorch - and no more ginger beer.

It would be wonderful to have your support - and flapjacks if you have them - for this daunting walk.

Thanks very much.

Love,

Milla xxxx
