Story
Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 11th July 2010 I will be running, or attempting to run, 10 kilometres through central London in aid of Myeloma UK. As many of you know, my father died one year ago on 27th May 2009 after a three year battle with Myeloma - cancer of the bone marrow. Although he was a man who preferred a long walk followed by a hearty lunch, I'm sure he would have supported me in this challenge. I hope you can support me too, and in doing so support Myeloma UK, the leading UK cancer organisation dealing specifically with myeloma and its related disorders.
There is currently only treatment, but no cure, available for myeloma. There are approximately 4000 new cases every year. Public awareness of myeloma is low: 97% of people surveyed by Myeloma UK did not know what it was. In terms of treatment only two drugs have been licensed for myeloma in the last ten years. Much more research and investment is needed and this is what your money will go towards.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. If anyone wants to come along on the 11th July, please do as I will need all the encouragement I can get!
Thank you very much in advance for your generous support,
Millie
