We ensure that some of the orphans in Uganda do not have to face life alone. They remain in their own homes with their basic needs provided for: clean water; a mobile clinic; training in agriculture; workshops in business management; practical help in setting up a business; sponsored education.

Story

Bega Kwa Bega (shoulder to shoulder in Swahili) is an extremely well organised and efficient charity based in Uganda. They have a number of projects, including sponsoring AIDS orphans through school, goat and heifer donation, clean water and pump projects, sustainable farming practice and lastly, what I was working on last year, the mobile malaria clinic.

The clinic is run by very capable and dedicated nurses and aims to provide medical care to remote rural areas in Uganda for free. It is expensive to run and they often run out of drugs, with people left untreated. When I was there we saw some seriously bad cases we couldn't treat for lack of drugs. It shouldn't happen. The drugs are available. This money can buy them and BKB can get them there.

Anything you can give I can promise will be spent well.

I ran it in 1 hr 50.21 in 25 degrees with a cold!! Make the sunburn worthwhile please!!
