I strongly believe that our main purpose in life as human beings is to help each other. That is the only way to achieve sustainable happiness and contentment in my opinion. I have been in HSBC Group for 14 years and been involved in numerous CSR activities done by the bank.
I am honored to be a part of this worthy cause and will be contributing the best I can to this initiative. In addition to the obvious financial benefits of fundraising, my view is that it helps create awareness of real issues we face and how we can help overcome those issues collectively. Volunteering gives the additional element of contributing to a worthy cause with both body and mind which is the best way to make a positive change in the world.
Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene should be a normal part of everyone’s daily life. Without all three, people can’t live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good. With clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, children are born healthier. They get the chance to go to school and grow up to become adults. Women and men get to earn a living. Whole communities start to thrive. It sounds normal and it should be.
The HSBC Arctic Challenge is an expedition undertaken by 100 HSBC colleagues walking 100 KM deep into the arctic circle across Greenland. The entire trek will span for 5 days covering 20KM per day. We will be surviving on basic meals, camping in tents in harsh cold conditions , and cut off from the rest of the world in an extremely remote environment.
Please note that I will be funding my own expenses for this expedition and all donations by you will directly contribute to WaterAid's initiatives on improving peoples' access to clean water and sanitation. All donations collected will be matched by HSBC.
