Story
Bismillah,
"People always say that, when you love someone, nothing in the world matters. But that's not true, is it? You know, and I know, that when you love someone, everything in the world matters a little bit more.”
Life has never been the same since I lost my beloved grandmother Mirza Begum in 2009 after her battle with cancer.
We were really close, in many ways I used to try and imitate her, I wanted to be just like her - she was strong, bold and adventurous!I lost my best friend to cancer as well, my brother in law Mushtaq Ahmed, who not only helped raise me but shaped me as a human being. He bought me my first bike, taught me to ride, box and stand up for my rights. He supported me when no one else would and egged me on when I wanted to travel or do something against the grain......
I was his 'Golden Girl' and today his 'Golden Girl' has decided to raise funds to build 3 hand pumps in Ghouta, Syria as a Sadaqah Jariyah Project for him, my grandmother and maternal grandfather who is very ill and in need of your duas!
The Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad PBUH said “When a man passes away, his actions come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity); information which is beneficial; or a virtuous enfant who prays for him (the deceased).” [Sahih Muslim].
I guess thats it really, all I can do is give them a little something back for what they gave me but something that will benefit them greatly in the Akhirah!
Of all places, the hand pumps will be built in Syria, because of the need there and that their struggle is not theirs alone. We are one Ummah. Please donate, no matter what amount, the dream is to do this within the 30 days of Ramadan Insha'Allah!
