Most of us can probably recall a time our life when realising a particular dream has given us a massive high and kept us smiling for days. Everyone deserves the chance to experience the pure joy of achieving a lifelong ambition, but unfortunately, for many people with a learning disability, this isn’t always possible.

 

'Mission to Lars' is an uplifting documentary feature film about my brother, Tom Spicer.  Tom has Fragile X Syndrome, a sort of autism. All he's ever wanted is to meet Lars Ulrich from Metallica, the world’s biggest heavy metal band. After 20 years and 10,000 times of asking me when he was going to meet Lars, I finally cracked.  And so, accompanied by myself, and our younger brother Will, Tom embarks on a transatlantic quest to find his much obsessed-over hero.

 

Anyone who sees ‘Mission to Lars’ will see how much meeting Lars meant to my brother and I want more people to experience this euphoria. This is where you can help.
