Story

Hi,

My name is Missy Thompson I am fifteen years old, I live in Bermuda, and I currently go to a boarding school called Uppingham School in England.  At my school I am currently participating in the bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Some of you might know that in order to complete this I must finish three different sections successfully. These three different sections are skill, sport and service. I have decided for the service part of the award to raise money for breast cancer awareness by climbing Mount. Kilimanjaro. For those of you who do not know, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa and is 19,331 ft high. Mount Kilimanjaro is located in Tanzania, Africa and is made out of three different volcano's. I will be climbing this mountain with my father, Roger Thompson, who has so kindly agreed to do it with me from April 11th 2010, to April 17th 2010 and we will be going on the seven day Machame route.

I have decided to split the money raised into two different charities that support people who have cancer.  My mother is a proud survivor of breast cancer, so these are obviously two very important charities to me.  The one charity that I have on Just Giving is called Breast Cancer care, and its goal is to give everyone affected by breast cancer the best treatment, information and support.  The other charity that I will be fundraising for is a local charity in Bermuda which is called the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, which helps raise awareness and gives people the information that they need.

If you would like to donate to Breast Cancer Care please simply donate to this just giving page. And if you would like to donate to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre then please send a cheque made out to "The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre" to the address:
