Every 5 minutes, someone dies from heart diseases in the UK. We need to tackle this problem head on, and we need to start today. Your donations will fund lifesaving medical research to find new treatments and cures. We need your help, until there are no more deaths from heart diseases.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I recently lost my father and my best friend,
John Patel, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack. It wasn't the heart attack that lead to his passing, it was the delay in getting himself to the hospital. Unfortunately he didn't recognise that he was having a heart attack, nor did the people around him. The delay in getting to the hospital (it was over 36 hours before he went to hospital after struggling with breathlessness) meant that he had lost a lot of cardiac (heart) muscle. The weakening of his heart meant he didn't survive the second heart attack.

I am fundraising in his memory to improve awareness of heart related conditions (CHD), to help people recognise the symptoms of a heart attack and to take the appropriate actions at the necessary times.

My Dad was an avid cyclist who participated in the annual Bradford sky ride through the city. The week before he passed away he did a 40 mile cycle ride from Bradford to Skipton and back. He also had a great passion for cricket where he made a lot of his life long friends. A man with great values, he was adamant on helping others and serving the community.

Help me to help others by making a donation to Heart Research UK and help us raise awareness on the severity and risks of heart related disease.
