We are three incredibly geeky individuals who are throwing ourselves head first into (an incredibly ungeeky) 10km of mud, blood and sweat (http://thewolfrun.com/). We thought that, whilst we're at it, we may as well try and raise a bit of money for a good cause.

Last year, I (Emma) lost my mom to primary liver cancer caused by an autoimmune condition, primary biliary cirrhosis. Unfortunately, liver cancer has one of the worst prognoses, trailing pancreatic cancer among others for the top spot. That meant that on September 15th, when the consultant broke the news that she had advanced liver cancer, I knew right away that medically, there was practically nothing they could do. Too far advanced for even palliative chemotherapy, all we had left was to wait for her to die. 

There are some really promising cancer therapies in the works that, once refined and through trials, could control and even cure many cancers, such as liver cancer, that have such a hopeless prognosis. By raising even a small amount of money for organisations such as Cancer Research UK, we'd like to think we're making a small but meaningful step towards bringing these potential therapies to fruition. With as many as 1 in 2 of us either suffering from or being affected by cancer at some point in our lives, you're investing in your own future health or that of a loved one by donating ^^

That aside, we're also doing the Wolf Run for plain simple fun, and to test how fit we really are (probably not very). I'll be recording the run with a GoPro, so for your donation, you'll actually get to see us torture ourselves.
