Big Walk 2018 · 22 June 2018 ·
MLTC staff and friends are taking part in The Big Walk 2018 on 22 June – a 26.2 mile walk starting in Lodge Moor on the edge of Sheffield, heading out to the Peak District and ending on the University campus.
The team members are language tutors Anabel Castillo and José Fuentetaja; support staff Stacey Dunlea and Emma Nesbit; and our friend Cathy Williams.
Why are we doing this?
We’re raising funds for the University’s £2 million campaign to bring an MRI-PET scanning facility to Sheffield, the first of its kind in Yorkshire.
The MRI-PET scanner combines images from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to provide a superior diagnostic picture in a single scan. It will enable to see what is happening inside a diseased organ with unprecedented detail and whether is responding to treatment. It will be invaluable to diseases such as Epilepsy, Parkinson, Multiple Sclerosis, Heart and lung diseases, Diabetes, Cancer, among others.
The Sheffield Scanner campaign is well over half-way to our target of £2 million – so please support us by donating to this fantastic cause which will have a terrific impact for everyone in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
