Donations will be used to continue providing food, hot water, electricity and fulfilling the costs of the day to day running of an institute which has produced hundreds of graduates over the past 30 years; many of whom are now serving as imams, teachers and chaplains in communities around the UK.

Jamia al-Karam was established in 1985 and has been running for the last 23 years at its Eaton Hall site in Retford, Nottinghamshire. It provides a three year foundational and a five year advanced diploma in Islamic sciences under the guidance of the founder and principal, an exegete of the Qur’an, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada. A famous tradition states that an old man was once planting a date palm, and it is known that a date palm bears fruit after many years. A traveller spoke out to the old man: “By the time this date palm bears fruit, you will probably not be alive.” The old man replied: “Our elders planted date palms and we ate their fruits. If today we do not plant these date palms, from where will our coming generations eat?”
