Millions of Syrian children have had to flee with their parents from the war-torn country, sacrificing their entire lives, running away from danger to Turkey, where they seek refuge. These children are deprived of basic services including health, housing and education. They are lacking the basic skills needed to grow into individuals, who have the ability to be able to get jobs, or able to earn a steady income. These children's life chances have been decreased, as many of them are still living through the mental trauma of fleeing.
An education would provide these children with the ability to move on from the danger, that had a detrimental effect on them. It would provide them with a distraction and would provide them with the hope that their lives with improve. Every child has a right to an education, no child should be deprived of one, regardless of the circumstances of their lives. These children have already faced such calamities that NO child should ever have to face. They have looked directly into the face of death, and have survived. The least we can do is help them move on and attempt to give them a chance to live a normal life.
Penny Appeal allows us to fulfil this, as the Education First appeal provides syrian children an education. Penny Appeal will set up schools that the children would go to. In these schools, they will be taught basic literacy, maths, the english language and Turkish. They will be taught turkish so they are able to successfully integrate themselves with the Turkish community and feel at home in Turkey. The money that is donated will be used to pay for qualified teachers, reading materials, the schools infrastructure and many other things.
By donating you are allowing these vulnerable children to move forward in life, away from the traumatic experiences. An education gives these children the best chance to succeed in life, as aforementioned no child should be denied an education.
