OK, the training started well before Christmas so now is the time to get sponsoring.

The last March was a blast - I made new friends and found inspiration from all the other walkers on the way to Sutton, as well as marshals, pub landlords and ice cream sellers! Everyone is there for one thing - to help the Royal Marsden Charity.

This year I'm still walking with friends in mind who have been helped by RM. Thank you for sponsoring me - it inspires me to more training and helps The Marsden as well.

Updates: What a fantastic day - we couldn't have asked for better weather. In spite of the early hour (we got on the coach at Sutton just before 8am) everyone was cheerfully looking forward to a good march, whether it was a planned power walk, or a more gentle amble, and we weren't disappointed. Nearly twice as many walkers as last year, yet we still had elbow room and there were loads more loos this time, thank goodness. Great seeing all the balloons on the walkers stretched out in front of us and behind as well - loads of cars hooted; it must have been impressive to go past. Thanks if you've already sponsored - it really did make a difference to the training and the walk knowing that other people think it's a worthwhile cause. I've decided not to stop training - I shall miss it too much! So if you're about to donate, thank you. It will spur me on as well as help RM and who knows? I may march again next year!

Training continues round Godalming on a Friday: latest was a walk to Chilworth and very steep climb up St Martha's Hill to the church on the Pilgrim's Way. I was very pleased to discover the bench marked "halfway point" was nearer the top than the bottom, and wondered if any other idiots had done a similar climb that Friday. There were in fact at least a dozen around the church, including children, and they all seemed less out of puff than I. Thank goodness the "March" is on the level! More to follow....
