Many think a hospice just means death and even some people at end of life think that this is the final option. But I know since I was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in 2020 they do so much more.
The Sue Ryder nurses at Manorlands were there to talk to, about all the things that were going round my head! On call 24/7 with a telephone number if I needed them.
They dealt with my pain management, trying different medications to get everything under control. But what they were, were a constant knowing that in my journey they will always be there.
After my last fundraiser where I said I wouldn't do anything again at 3am one morning Zip the Cow popped up on my mail feed and before you know it I had signed up for it! Why I asked myself when I hate heights and don't even do rollercoasters.
I said that if my next results came back Stable Mable then I would just go for it and Monday my oncologist gave me those results for the next 6 months - so Life is for Living and not Dying so can't go back now!
