We're coming to get you cancer...

Trudy · 30 December 2014
Hearing a member of your family has cancer is some of the worse news you can ever receive. It's never expected and it turns your life upside down. My sister Trudy is known for her easy-going, fun loving personality, however, recently we've been introduced to Trudy the Fighter. Ever since Trudy was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer she has been so positive and hasn't let it dampen her spirits.
It's a challenging time for her husband, Craig, and her boys, Alfie and Charlie - not to mention the rest of my family and close friends. On saying this, it would be a much darker and harder time if it wasn't for the wonderful ladies in the Laurel Suite at Stepping Hill Hospital - this is where my sister receives all her treatments. The nurses on this unit are absolutely incredible. Each and every single one of them is so dedicated to their job and they would go above and beyond for any of their patients. Seeing them walk around a unit full of people with a similar battle, and making each of them smile is so humbling. They don't just carry out treatments, but they also offer support and are always there whenever needed. They create such a family atmosphere in the unit, and it was lovely to see them all at Trudy's wedding.
For this reason, I ask you to donate whatever you can; to help out these nurses and make the laurel suite an even better place. Their job is not an easy one. They may be a small unit but their influence on peoples lives is one that can't be put into words.
Throughout the year my family will be doing several fundraising activities in a bid to raise any money we can.
Please, help these nurses fight alongside my sister and we will beat cancer sooner.
