Hi, my name is Molly and this summer I am planning, along with my best friend Deborah and my mum, to cycle from Land’s End to Jon O’Groats for charity and also to celebrate the year of my mum’s 50 and Deborah and mine’s 16 birthdays. We are doing our bike ride for two charities, Wateraid and the Ear Foundation.
On the first day at my new secondary school I was scared but in no time at all I made a new friend. She was born profoundly deaf and at first I was unsure of how to approach her as I had never had experience with any deaf people before. In no time at all we were firm friends. She was welcoming and such a nice person to be around, if I had not been told I don’t think I would have even realised she was deaf because she has brilliant speech and confidence. To interact further I learnt sign language and can now communicate fluently with her although her lip reading skills are also amazing!
I would really like some of our bike ride funds to go to the Ear Foundation. The Ear Foundation is a local charity which aims to give all deaf people the opportunity to hear and communicate using the latest technology. It offers support and guidance to deaf children and their families.
I know just how much this organisation has helped both her and her family and so many other people. I have been to conferences and trips out with her and some of her deaf friends and have experienced first-hand what this charity has done. But they can’t continue this work without support and that is why I would love for you to support us, so that we can support them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please donate as generously as you can to this wonderful cause.
