Story

One of my best friends, Jacob Willis (19 years old), has been diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome which is a serious disorder that occurs when the body's defense (immune) system mistakenly attacks part of the nervous system. Exactly what triggers Guillain Barre Syndrome is unknown. He is now in the hospital getting treated for this condition. It is a very difficult time for him and his family. It had a huge impact on everyone, not just Jacob, but everyone around him. So any thoughts, support and donations would be greatly appericated, big or small, thank you.

This has made me realise how much we need to appreciate with what we’ve got now and make most of it as we can.

‘This is where the body attacks itself when it thinks there is a virus, although there may be none. This usually happens after someone gets a virus, even though the virus has been “beaten” the body still thinks its there and continues to attack. This affects the peripheral nervous system; the legs and arms usually get affected first and it can eventually affect the chest and face and affect breathing in which case the person will need to go on a ventilator. Guillian-Barre is fatal in 3%to 5% of cases; 80% to 85% make a full recovery, however this takes many months or even years'

Being unable to do anything to support Jacob, seeing I’m miles away so therefore I have decided to do two events to fundraise money for GBS and of course this is for Jacob. But before I tell you about these events... I have a little story to tell....
I grew up with weak knees and had many problems with them through out my life. On a skiing holiday last year where I went with Jacob and few others, I had an accident and ended up being sent to hospital to find out I've stretched the ligament and this have affected my ability to do any sports painless.
