Story

<p>One of my best friends, Jacob Willis (19 years old), has been diagnosed with Guillain Barre&nbsp;Syndrome which is a serious disorder that occurs when the body's defense (immune) system mistakenly attacks part of the nervous system. Exactly what triggers Guillain Barre Syndrome is unknown. He is<span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span style="font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;">&nbsp;</span></span>now in the hospital getting treated for this condition.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp;</span>It is a very difficult time for him and his family.&nbsp; It had a huge impact on everyone, not just Jacob, but everyone around him. So any thoughts, support and donations would be greatly appericated, big or small, thank you.</p> <p>This has made me realise how much we need to appreciate with what we&rsquo;ve got now and make most of it as we can.&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>Guillain Barre Syndrome; </strong></em></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: &amp;amp;amp;amp;">&lsquo; This is where the body attacks itself when it thinks there is a virus, although there may be none. This usually happens after someone gets a virus, even though the virus has been &ldquo;beaten&rdquo; the body still thinks its there and continues to attack. This affects the peripheral nervous system; the legs and arms usually get affected first and it can eventually affect the chest and face and affect breathing in which case the person will need to go on a ventilator. Guillian-Barre is fatal in 3%to 5% of cases; 80% to 85% make a full recovery, however this takes many months or even years'</span></strong></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Being unable to do anything &nbsp;to support Jacob, seeing I&rsquo;m miles away so therefore I have decided to do two events to fundraise money&nbsp;for GBS and of course this is for Jacob. But before I tell you about these events... I have a little story to tell....<br><span style="font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-family: &amp;amp;amp;amp; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">I grew up with&nbsp;weak knees and had many problems with them through out my life. On a skiing holiday last year where I went with Jacob and few others, I had an accident and&nbsp;ended up being sent to hospital&nbsp;to find out&nbsp;I've stretched&nbsp;the&nbsp;ligament&nbsp;and this have affected my ability to do any sports painless.&nbsp;</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 15.0pt; font-family: Arial;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">TWO EVENTS</span></span></strong></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">I am going to do..</span>&nbsp;<br><strong>2.8km run in Reading</strong>&nbsp;on 1st of April.<br><strong>10k Bristol Marathon (approx 6miles)&nbsp;</strong>on 20th of May.<br>My goodness! This will be a <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>MASSIVE</strong></span> challenge for me.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">Like Tesco&rsquo;s slogan &ndash; <span style="text-decoration: underline;">EVERY LITTLE HELPS!&nbsp;</span>&nbsp;So donations are greatly appreciated, big or small, thank you. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Just for Jacob and those who have been diagnosed with GBS.</span></strong> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 15.0pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;"><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;">xxxx</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><br></span></strong></p>
