In 2000 I lost my stepmom, Terry, to cancer. She was gone within 6 months of her diagnosis. At the young age of 19, her rather quick departure from our lives taught me two things: 

1. Cancer is a fucker of a disease.  

2. We don't get a do over. 

After years of saying yes to new experiences and soaking up what this life inevitably throws my way, I've decided to take the next plunge and ride through the Alps for 8 straight days on my bicycle. 1000 km and 80,000 ft of total elevation later I hope to experience one of the most challenging and breathtaking weeks of my life all in support of a worthy cause.
