"Moments To Remember" - Photography Project

The Greatest Gift you can give to Someone whose Baby has died

Is the Gift of Remembrance

Parents whose baby is still born or dies shortly after birth have only a few precious moments to spend with their child.

There is no past to remember - no future to anticipate - in those short moments, time has to stand still and cherished memories have to suffice a lifetime.

It may seem strange having someone take photographs on such a sad occasion but it is the only chance to record that this baby really existed and that they were loved and cherished.

Quality photographs that capture these moments help parents and family members to remember and to grieve and say goodbye.

To help this process the Maternity and Neonatal Units in Leicester want to develop this service and improve the photos taken of babies and their families.

The use of hospital photographers and the training of health care staff along with appropriate equipment and dedicated time will enable parents to be given the gift of a photo album - a collection of these moments which they can cherish forever.

Memories they can turn to when they feel able and ready

Memories that they can share with family and friends

Memories that show the love they have for their child.

Leicester Sands already provide memory boxes and teddy bears for families whose baby has died. These small gestures go a long way in supporting bereaved families. Leicester Sands will also be providing the photo albums needed for this project. Any donations made here will be kept especially for the development and progression of ‘Moments to Remember’.

Your donation will make an enormous difference to families who have lost so much. Speaking as a bereaved parent I treasure the small items I have to remind me of my son Rowan. What I regret is not having a picture of me holding him or my husband kissing him. I would do any thing to go back and have those moments again and capture every one of them.

If you want to see how powerful and beautiful photographs such as these can be, and in what way they can help, please look at this inspiring website www.toddhochberg.com

Thank you so much for your donation.
