APPEAL UPDATE - 04/02/2011
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Honey so far. She is doing well and has already gained 1.7kg in weight and her confidence is growing a little more each day. All extra funds raised will help the many other dogs that we care for at Wood Green. We receive no government or lottery funding so we rely entirely on supporters like you. Thank you!
PLEASE HELP US TO RAISE MONEY FOR HONEY.
On the 27th January 2011, the team at Wood Green Animal Shelters in North London were shocked to discover an emaciated dog tied up outside the Shelter entrance.
Shivering, starving and terrified, this poor dog has been a victim of neglect.
Honey, as named by our Shelter Team, was brought inside and assessed immediately by one of our vets for any urgent health issues. She was severely underweight, under half the weight that she should have been, and had terrible sores on her back legs from surfaces rubbing her bones when she sat or lay down.
We immediately gave Honey a good meal and some water, which she wolfed down. She was obviously starving. She was then taken to our Shelter in Cambridgeshire where we could provide her with a warm kennel and begin a programme of intensive care and careful feeding.£35 will pay for a week's worth of food for Honey.
Dogs that have been so badly mistreated will need special attention from us. It’s going to take months to get Honey to a stable weight, and we need time to work with her to regain her trust.
Honey is now on a special diet, which costs us £35 a week. We've given her antibiotics and treatment for her wounds. We've also given her treatment for fleas and worms. We'll now start the slow process of aiding her recovery.
£10 will pay for some chews and toys for Honey to enjoy whilst she is recovering in her foster home.
£20 will help us to pay for her future vaccinations, microchipping and neutering when she is well enough.
Please help us to help Honey. Make a donation today and leave a message of support for Honey when you donate.
We'll make sure to keep you informed on Honey's progress. For regular updates please join the Wood Green Animal Shelter's Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wood-Green-Animal-Shelters/20069898059.
