So please dig deep and donate now because it is a country where the children are in dire need and the people hard working and generous.  They fell into an appalling state after Cyclone Nargis and have just not been able to recover.  This Shining Land was the place of my Mother's birth and where my Grandparents and Great Grandparents lived since the 1870s and the country has fond memories for all my family.  We are lucky enough to have records of prewar Burma...very rare in themselves and hope that if you like them you will give to this cause.  If you want to know more about this era in Burmese history when it was part of British India you can get the book "Lines from a Shing Land"  from the Britain Burma Society.  Through JustGiving the money will go to Prospect Burma directly.  This charity gives young Burmese people access to education – one of the United Nation’s fundamental human rights. Since 1988 Burmese universities have been repeatedly closed and education remains in crisis. A whole generation has been deprived of education and the effect on Burma’s future is incalculable.  Children and young adults of all ages will benefit from your donation.
