Climbing Mont Blanc · 26 August 2010

The Red Rubber Foundation is a charity set up to help young and disadvantaged people in the UK and overseas develop their capabilities. We do this by giving our own time, money and energy, and raising additional funds to support individuals and community groups.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At the end of August we went out to France to climb Mont Blanc, in part because we thought it would be a great experience (not the altitude sickness bit of course) but also to raise money for the Kenyan village of Mundeku.

At 15,782 feet it is the highest mountain in Western Europe and represents a very significant challenge.  With no climbing experience whatsoever, we had to learn how to use crampons, ropes and even an ice axe.  It proved to be even tougher than we'd expected.

You can read about our experience at  http://redrubberballco.wordpress.com/.

Our fundraising was towards Neil's commitment to help the villagers of Mundeku convert a piece of barren land into agricultural land, enabling them to feed the children of the village which is heavily affected by aids.  We're therefore raising money to make this happen.

You can find out more about the project at www.redrubberball.co.uk.
