Story

Thank you to everyone who has very kindly sponsored me with my fundraising efforts for A (Little Less) Strictly Come Dancing.  I am delighted to let you know that I lifted The Glitter Ball Trophy and in the process hope to have raised around £19,000 for Hospice funds.  Thank you for the contribution you made to this total and for helping the Hospice raise around £85,000 from the event.

This was a once in a lifetime experience and one that I was very proud to have taken part in along with all the other participants and professional dancers.   A special thank you must go to my wonderful teacher and dance partner, Bobby Cranston.  He took me completely out my comfort zone and allowed me to be someone else for 2 minutes 59 seconds!  I am still dancing the routine in my head at night and through the day – don’t know if it ever goes away!

Thank you again for supporting me.

Have you ever had that experience when you are sitting at night in front of the telly thinking ‘what have I done?’  Well this hit me at the turn of the year when I was ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ and realised that in 10 weeks time, I would be dancing a fusion of Samba/Quickstep with former Scottish ballroom champion, Bobby Cranston.

As if that wasn’t enough to distract me from the Kardashians, I have only gone and volunteered to do this in front of 600 people, in a revealing Samba outfit, on a sparkly dance floor with cameras around me!  Help!

I will be one of seven contestants competing for the Glitter Ball Trophy at (A Little Less) Strictly Come Dancing at the Hilton Glasgow on Saturday, 16 March 2013. Bobby is taking me right out of my comfort zone and with the help of some hypnotherapy I WILL BE ‘a sexy confident woman’ on the night of 16 March!!!

I have worked in the fundraising team at the Hospice for nearly 17 years and undertaken many different challenges in that time.  However, for those who know me well, you know I would rather walk around a dance floor than across it and always try to avoid a camera - so this is indeed my biggest challenge to date!

The Hospice team need to raise £2.8 million of donations each year to meet our operating costs and we recently launched our £15 million Brick by Brick Appeal to build a new Hospice for Glasgow.

I need your help in two ways –

* Please text DANCE MORAG to 70100 to secure votes (texts cost £1.00 each and all proceeds go to the Hospice)

* Please sponsor me through my JustGiving site to raise funds for the Hospice.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Hope you can help me with my fundraising efforts.  Keeeeeep Dancing!
