Story
Stanleys' dream - he is deafblind...
“When I go on my Sense holiday this year, my dream is to go horse riding as it is my most favourite thing to do”
Senses' holiday programme is all about making dreams come true.
Every year, Sense provide holidays for over 130 deafblind children and young people where they get to experience new things such as horse riding, sailing and paddling in the sea.
The week long holidays also provide an essential break for parents and families.
The Holidays programme is just one of the life changing projects that Sense provides.
The Kilimanjaro trek 2012 will be raising vital funds enabling Sense to keep making dreams come true! Thank you so much.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In early June 2012 a small group of us will take part in an attempt to trek to the Uhuru summit on Mount Kilimanjaro. This is..as you probably know..the highest Mountain on the African continent and the highest freestanding mountain in the world at 5895 meters or 19341 feet above sea level. The mountain is almost five and a half times higher than Mt.Snowdon, and the summit is higher than Everest base camp!
I am an avid lover of the great outdoors and very keen walker, and my training days have started already! I will endeavour to complete the trek in 6 days, but as with all mountains there are a number of dangers and risks that may prevent this..the main and unavoidable one being altitude.
This is a legitimate challenge and I am registered to take part. The details of this challenge can be found on the SENSE website. I am really looking forward to making a difference! www.sense.org.uk
