Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 26th May I will set out from Milngavie near Glasgow on the biggest challenge of my life - walking the West Highland Way, a long-distance footpath that runs for 96 miles from Glasgow to Fort William through some of the wildest and most beautiful scenery in Britain.  I've wanted to do this for years and decided that if I didn't do something about it soon, I'd be too old and decrepit!  I know it's going to be quite a challenge: I've never walked for 11 consecutive days before;  I've never walked as far as 14 miles in a single day before; I've lived in the flatlands of East Anglia for the past 27 years, and one thing about the WHW, it isn't flat!

Ian, my husband, thinks I'm crazy and so, in my saner moments, do I.  However, I'll have the company of my daughter Katie for the whole of the walk, and my son Peter for the last 2 days.  They've both done the Way already, 7 years ago, so I'm relying on their expert(?) help!  And Ian will be transporting our baggage each day - and will be on hand to race to the rescue should I collapse with exhaustion! But because it's going to be such a challenge, I thought I might need some extra motivation to help me get to the end and while I will be enjoying (?) the beautiful scenery and, hopefully, weather, it would be good if someone else could benefit from the walk as well. So I've decided to try to raise some money for Traidcraft Exchange, a charity I've got to know through my involvement with Fair Trade.

Donating money for Fair Trade may not give the same warm glow as donating to a disaster charity or a children's charity, for example, but it does offer people in other countries the chance to develop for themselves a basic standard of life such as we take for granted in the West.  If you would like to help them - and encourage me to get to the end of the West Highland Way, then please sponsor me.  I'd especially appreciate sponsorship per mile or only if I finish - that would really keep me going!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
